Default Started Playing Again...

... and I'm having a really hard time getting back into it. I keep getting pissed because I can't take cover. I'll know someone has a bead on the corner I'm on and I can't take cover and peek around to see where they are... so that I have a chance at taking them down. The only thing I can do is just step out and hope they're a crappy shot or run away...
I'm gonna keep giving it a try over the next week but I think Vegas 2 may have ruined this game for me.

Same with me, I don't know whats going on. Just too use to Halo 3 or what but this game seem to be either getting crappier or what. It get camped in every corner now and sniped in every corner. Just not fun anymore. This is why I haven't played it much anymore.

Yea, the game is starting to lose its edge. Still fun but I think cover-system is spoiling the players

I had the same problems after i got back on CoD 4. I just played it more and more and now I'm back in the feel of it. Your so used to Vegas 2 you expect it to be like that. Well obviously it's not, so if you want to get back into it, you'll have to play it a little more.

Maybe the game is just losing its hype.

I wish that was true so my friends would stop talking about it. I've Golden everything but AK-47 and they're talking about prestiges and ask me why I don't play CoD4 with them. I just tell them "I've moved on to other games". and they get mad and I laugh a little

I think a cover system is a pretty important port of any shooter any more. It's like not being able to control your aim vertically... no company would make a game without that ability any more... so why no cover system? No cover suits games like Halo that are more about run and gun and are super fast paced but I think a game like COD4 really missed out by not including one.

Grav I'm in the same boat as you. I played Vegas for 2 weeks straight, played a few matches of Call of Duty and was pressing all the wrong buttons. I kept clicking the analog stick and pressing B trying to scope in and throw grenades. I did good once I started going back to my old tactics of camping and shooting people up from across the map but it'll be a while until I get GOOD again. I used to go 17-0 on overgrown like nothing, or 35-2 on Bog. It's annoying getting killed by random grenades and helicopers but oh well.

It's just frustrating... a game like COD4 needs a cover system. Games like Halo, Unreal, Quake... those games don't need a cover system because it doesn't really fit the game play style.

I can see where some of you are coming from without having a cover system but i don't really think it's needed. Giving it a cover system would make it too much like the Vegas series and it wouldn't be your typical "run and gun" game. And without that i think thats what brought gamers to this game. A fast paced game that doesn't take long to get a kill, multiple ways you can do them without having to deal with people hiding like crap behind walls and such. IMO i don't think this game would have fit a cover system.

I don't. And I said that a game like H3 doesn't need a cover system.

I guess that's where our opinions differ. I don't see COD4 as a H3 kind of game... is COD4 more run and gun than Vegas 2? Yes, it is... but is it run and gun like H3? Nope... not really.

This is how my line of thinking is processed: if you're playing a game and you feel you could take cover on this corner or this doorway and not worry about getting capped by someone from behind or to your side (you're only worrying about your "front") then the game needs a cover system. If you're playing a game and you think to yourself "there is no way I'm staying in this spot (even though it seems secure) because I will get capped" then the game shouldn't have a cover system.

Is it because both games are modern/futuristic war games? Without a cover system i guess for me it makes CoD 4 and H3 more similar then say Vegas series and CoD 4.
