The upgraded visuals and animations look nice, but the poor framerate during replays and too many blank faces negate the jump to the next generation. While EA provides a decent, yet very shallow, base for its first next-generation soccer title, it's evident the team over at EA Canada could have done a lot more. "Electronic Arts is surely on the right track by working on core gameplay in these early games, but FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup is yet another example of a launch title lacking the necessary amount of oomph. FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup is not a terrible game by any means, but most gamers are expecting games on the next-gen 360 to actually be “next-gen”. The graphics are better, but the graphics will be better on backwards compatible games as well, so there simply needs to be more than visuals to entice. The gameplay engine is on the right track, so we’ll see what EA has in store for us next year. "I've never played a game that went from mackin' to mediocre quite as quickly as FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay isn't perfect, but decent, and the loading mini-game is very promising for what developers can do in the future with this new hardware. Unfortunately, the frame rate is atrociously choppy during replays, and the online is possibly the worst I've ever experienced with any online game that actually connected me with an opponent instead of just not connecting. Players are probably better off sticking with FIFA 06 for Xbox than this, which feels like a tacked-on afterthought, and waiting until this time next year for the real next-gen soccer game." lol, no green reviews and the only red review on the site so far

BOOOOOO SOCCER!!! How much fun can it be, lol....

They mainly based it on that just because there are no club teams to play with. But EA has always released world cup games and just club game seperately and reviewers have always given the world cup games good scores. Though I think it sucks that you can only qualify for the World Cup and not play in it. Nice screw up there EA.
