"EA crafted a complete package for its next-gen game, meaning a full Dynasty mode complete with the new salary cap and the ability to sign players to one- or two-way contracts. But this next-gen leap is more than just HD eye candy and enhanced features. The Skills Stick alone makes NHL 07 a completely different game and one worthy of the new NHL."

"NHL 07 is a great hockey game, pure and simple. When you receive a pass in the slot, you feel the same rush of adrenaline that a star center feels. As you wind up a wrister, you know the only thing that can stop you is a great save from the goalie. With the dynamic puck physics, rebounds and deflections can change the course of a game. On a breakaway, you no longer wait for a teammate to try for a one-timer. You triple-deke and go top shelf. You beat the goalie. You feel it. Hockey has been waiting for this kind of innovation for a long time."

__________________________________________
"It is very much give-and-take in NHL 07, a game that delivers on bringing an exciting new gameplay mechanic to the table, then rips out a bunch of features when you're not looking. With NHL 2K7 managing to squeeze in every single feature the series has been known for into both its Xbox 360 debut last year and its latest iteration this year, the fact that EA's first hockey title, released more than a year after the console's launch, would be so stripped down is disappointing. But even with that disappointment, you can't help but go back to the skill stick--and what a phenomenal addition it is to how hockey is played on consoles. Those who want to see where hockey gaming is headed in the next few years absolutely should check out NHL 07."

__________________________________________
"Gary Thorne and Bill Clement of ESPN provide the commentary, and though it's nice to hear them again after ESPN dropped hockey, the repetitive and sometimes incorrect calls, especially in shootouts, get to be annoying. Despite a few minor flaws, the wait was worthwhile - EA Sports has delivered a very solid hockey game. Everything feels smooth and refined, and while everything could be refined even further, this lays the groundwork for next-gen hockey."

"The first Madden game for the Xbox 360 showed how good the next generation would be in the near future. NHL 07, being the first of EA’s next-gen hockey games, does much of the same. While not as bare bones as Madden NFL 06, NHL 07 still could use a bit more substance to back up its innovative controls and killer graphics and sound."

__________________________________________
"After missing out on the Xbox 360 launch last year, EA Sports' hockey series finally makes its debut on the console. But was it worth the wait? Well, that depends on how quickly you can adapt to the Skill Stick control scheme, where all your actions are pulled off via the right analog stick. Some will enjoy this new method of play, while others will struggle as they go from offensive to defensive moves in frustrating transition. Past that, the game looks fine and features strong audio, but comes up just a little short in the modes. While the Dynasty Mode continues to carry a strong load, it's tripped over by a somewhat below-average online outreach. Sorry, EA, you guys come up second this year to NHL 2K7, but at least it's an admirable second place and not some last-second slap-together of a game. Keep chipping away at it and let's have a colossal battle next year."

i cant make up my mind. I LOVED NHL 2K6 last year, and I've always been a huge 2k fan when it comes to hockey. but idk, it may be different on the 360. I was literally addicted to the 360 version of 2K6 last season, and got through like 5 seasons with the rangers..

im not sure which game to go with. both look good, and sometimes ill here NHL 07 is tons better, then ill read another review which says NHL 2K7 blows 07 away.

im so confused.
