Publisher: Activision

Developer: Treyarch

Release Date: November 7, 2006

Decription:
The follow-up to the #1 next-generation game, Call of Duty 3 delivers the intensity of being closer than ever to the fury of combat during the Normandy Breakout, the historic campaign that made the liberation of Paris possible and brought the Allies a step closer to Berlin. Through a seamless narrative that delivers the rush of unrelenting battle and breathtaking action, players assume the roles of four ordinary Allied soldiers—American, British, Canadian and Polish—and are thrust onto an authentic, living battlefield for an unprecedented variety of combat, with advanced high-definition graphics, detailed character animations and explosive on-screen action, delivering the most immersive and cinematically intense war experience ever. __________________________________________
"From start to finish, Call of Duty 3 is an intense experience and a great game. The visuals are fantastic and the sound is some of the best in any game to date. Though there's no question that Call of Duty 3 is every bit as good as its predecessor, and without question the multiplayer is vastly improved, none of the changes or additions to the single-player campaign significantly alter the way the game plays. If the Call of Duty series hasn't won you over previously, Call of Duty 3 isn't going to do much to change your mind. But for anyone else, Call of Duty 3 is a must-own."

88- IGN
__________________________________________
"Even with the additions that I've mentioned, Call of Duty 3 still has to contend with the World War II genre becoming a little stale. The best graphics in the world don't negate the fact that the game mechanics are the same as last year's installment. What really saves the day for COD are the enhanced multiplayer options. Available for four player split-screen, system link, and on Xbox Live, Treyarch has implemented the fully featured multiplayer mode that COD2 was sorely missing."

__________________________________________
"While the action in Call of Duty 3 feels a bit stale (but really, can anyone make a totally original WWII shooter?), this is another great entry in an excellent series. The graphics and audio work are both top-notch, and the multiplayer should stay fresh and exciting for months to come. Still, we can't help but wonder how many more games we'll see in the Call of Duty series. Will we be seeing a new theater of war in the next game? How about a different war altogether? Maybe an alternate universe in which the Nazis invaded the United States is the shot in the arm the series needs. No matter what the future holds, this is one game that fans of the genre should definitely pick up."

__________________________________________
"As a whole, Call of Duty 3 is an impressive achievement. It attempts to look, sound, feel, and play better than Call of Duty 2, and on most account it succeeds. But the Call of Duty franchise, like any other, doesn't exist in a vacuum, and is in constant competition with like offerings; and with World War II, that means quite a few to choose from. Even so, Treyarch and Activision have done an great job with COD3 and created an experience that is at once much the same, but also better, than its predecessor."

80- Games Radar
__________________________________________
"If you loved Call of Duty 2, you'll undoubtedly also love Call of Duty 3 - it's just that simple. Building on the already solid (if a little claustrophobic) linear design of Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3 introduces just enough new tidbits to keep even the most weary veterans in the fight."

70- GameSpy
__________________________________________
"If you've been paying attention this whole time, you've probably come to the conclusion that Call of Duty 3 is a solid game, and you'd be right. It promises intense WWII single and multiplayer action and delivers on both counts. The multiplayer experience is definitely the highlight here, but the single-player campaign is worth a play through. Yes, there is a collection of minor issues that keeps this game from being four or more stars, but it doesn't skimp on fun, and that's what counts the most."

65- 1up
__________________________________________
"Strengthened with vehicles and support for up to 24 players, the online multiplayer comes in strong enough to save face for the series, but that pales as compensation for the disappointing single-player game. Call of Duty 2 established itself as the game that, to this day, Xbox 360 owners still put in -- not just to show off their system, but because it makes the whole experience so intense, you want to jump back in and be there again. Even for those who wind up enjoying the online component, Call of Duty 3 will long since have been forgotten a year from now."

i don't think this COD is going to get as good reviews as COD2 (which had an average score of 91/100)

COD 3 is from a different creator. Im worried because they made Big Red One and I though that was boring... I hope its good though.

Im right. I now prove that Treyarch is good, but not good enough to make a true sequal. Gameinformer says it is fun but plays exactly the same. I'll probably get it though since 85% of my friends I met on COD 2... so they're gonna be playing COD 3... a lot.

I'll probably ask for it for Christmas....Rainbow 6, Gears of War, and Splinter Cell are all games that I am going to be playing for awhile.

I'll probably only buy it if sniping isn't as rediculously common and overpowered in this game as it was in CoD2.

Looks like its doing well under the relase of Gears of "War" (just to let jerry know the real name of the game, it seemed that he forgot the name.) I might rent it after playing COD2. (Which is my next rental)

"Gears of Hype..." it was a joke.

And Jerry, apparently it's lived up to the hype, so deal with it. :D. We don't mock SOCOM...much.
