![]() ![]() Publisher: Sega Developer: Bizarre Creations Release Date: February 19, 2008 Decription: From the developer behind the critically acclaimed racing series, Project Gotham Racing, Bizarre Creations brings a whole new breed of third-person shooter known as The Club™. The Club™ mixes the best elements from action shooters with fast paced run and gun gameplay, destructive environments, lethal weapons and an in-depth story structure. Players will fight to survive in a shadowy underground blood-sport controlled by a faceless, obscenely wealthy and influential elite who place their bets on who will survive as the blood-bath ensues before them. Take control of up to eight trained killers motivated by greed, driven by pure insane bloodlust, and determined to earn respect on a global level. (description from Ebgames.com) The Critics 90- Teamxbox __________________________________________ "All in all, I found The Club to be a refreshing switch from the normal flow of similar shooters, and I welcome Bizarre’s contribution for that. I do wish there was more depth to it, and perhaps it’ll do well enough to bring about a sequel that expands on what’s been done here. It’s a nice start that gets away from the “me too” approach that many others are willing to take. Now let’s see where it goes from here." » Read Full Review 90- GamePro __________________________________________ "What might be most impressive about The Club is that despite the many disparate elements that it cherry-picks from genres as diverse as racing, skateboarding, and first-person shooters, the whole never bears the disjointed feel of a Frankenstein creation, instead ebbing and flowing with a satisfying smoothness that's accessible without being overly simplistic, and action-packed without being nerve-deadening. It's like watching an action movie with the stereo cranked up to eleven except you're the maestro dictating every movement of the bullet ballet." » Read Full Review 80- Games Radar __________________________________________ "The Club feels unlike anything else. Neither Halo, nor even BioShock, has the ability to make you feel like this game does. But you’ll either love it for the adrenaline rush or hate it for the lack of compelling story and boring brown levels. For those wanting something new, it's definitely worth a go." » Read Full Review 70- GameSpot __________________________________________ "As a whole, The Club's single-player content just about works as an old-fashioned shooter that isn't shy about its old-school roots, but it suffers from a lack of variation in its level, weapon, and character design. It's still good enough to keep you coming back to try to beat that last high score in a manner that may not be familiar to anyone under the age of about 25, and for that the game deserves praise despite its multiplayer shortcomings." » Read Full Review 70- GameSpy __________________________________________ "It's the weak multiplayer that keeps us from recommending The Club with full enthusiasm. The single-player portion of the game is entertaining, but the experience will be brief if you're not the type to obsess over high scores. If you're looking for much more than a few hours of fun single-player target shooting, you'll probably not want to pay the steep fee this club charges for membership." » Read Full Review 69- IGN __________________________________________ "If you get into The Club, you'll find an arcade shooter with a twist that can be played obsessively in search of high scores. I didn't find the hook all that appealing and felt left with a glorified shooting gallery. The idea is sound. There just isn't much to be excited about in the final product." » Read Full Review 65- 1up __________________________________________ "The Club does get points for trying to do something a little different with tired shooter conventions -- at the very least, this isn't the same space-marine-infested crap you've played a thousand times before. But it's also proof that just because something works in one genre doesn't mean it belongs in another. I can't recommend the weak single-player mode, but the multiplayer left me surprisingly satisfied." » Read Full Review __________________________________________ To learn more about "The Critics" section visit: The Critics Explanation For indexes of all the games covered in The Critics area, visit: Index by Title or Index by Score

this is such a variety in scores.
Some people loved it, others hated it. I personally didn't enjoy the demo, the controls sucked IMO.

They should stick to racing, nice try, but no good. They even said they were focusing on style and speed like it was racing game which is never cool IMO.
