Upon trying Completing the Game on Hard(core I think) or Insanity or what ever the really difficult difficulty is in Mass Effect, I've noted that you have to create a new character to set the difficulty for the achievement
Now the Achievement states: "Complete 1 Mass Effect playthrough on the Insanity difficulty setting. Do not change the setting." And So, I begun to wonder a way to get the Achievement without making a New Character, and using an Existing one instead. They way I thought of is this: Have An Existing character play through the entire game on what ever difficulty, then While you are Fighting Saren, change the difficulty to Insanity, and finish the playthrough. That way when you start over, it will already be on Insanity, and you won't has to change the setting, and you could play through the game as your leveled up character, and kick ass :p Has anyone ever tried this? and Will it Work? ---------------- Now playing: Unearth - Predetermined Sky via FoxyTunes (just trying FoxyTunes sig out) Last edited by Brave Moonlight : 03-10-2008 at 10:33 PM. |

I don't know but i don't think it'd work. Because maybe it records who you beat as bosses go and enemies and what difficulty you beat it on. So if you beat everything on Easy, and then switch to Insanity at the end, it will only record that you beat the last part o Insanity, but not the rest of the game so it wouldn't give you the achievement. Thats my guess on it.

You have to play the game all the way through on a single difficulty for the "difficulty" achievements. I understand what Brave is saying but I believe I read somewhere that this trick doesn't work... but I don't know that I would trust my sources on that. Try it out and let us know. I personally don't find it very likely to work... if I were a developer this is the first cheap trick to beat the system I would have thought of... but someone try it and let us know for sure!

Has anyone found out if it works or not?
I've been unable to play for several weeks until recently. Someone also Claims that you can change the difficulty before the incident with the Beacon, and it'd work because he said that's where the game 'starts' but I don't believe it. *edit* I've seen two people say this on two seperate websites,,, maybe it is true I'll try it Last edited by Brave Moonlight : 05-26-2008 at 03:28 PM. |

I've heard you can use the same character and switch the difficulty before landing on Eden Prime and it will unlock at the end.
