I can never buy DVDs, i watch it once or twice then that's it, there aren't many movies worth wanting to buy and keep watching, the only way i do buy is box sets or a collection of some sort. And even then very rarely. Buying heaps of DVDs seems like an obsession that's pretty useless.

Dvd's are good because you pay like 25-30 dollars and watch it as many times as you like in the comfort of your own home with friends and or family. It's annoying in the cinema when you get people sitting near you who talk through the whole thing. Plus they charged like 10.50 to see it once then the candy bar charges outrageous prices for small amounts of food and drink. Then again if you only want to watch it once (and a lot earlier than when the dvd comes out) the cinema is for you.

if that was a serious statement, then not really. the screens are way bigger then the biggest consumer hdtv on the market. the film resolution is 4096x2048, almost double of bluray standards, and nothing beats the sounds you'll hear in a theater other than real life, and im sure theater sound quality is better than 7.1 channel, but i dont really know. also darkroomed projections are better then screens too.
in my opinion nothing beats the theater. especially imax, which is way better. |

No. They're not. At least not where I'm from. If you go to Korea theres a choice between what movie you wanna watch. Normal, or Digital. Normal is film strips, digital is basically like a Blu-Ray DVD playing.
At my movie theater the film strips constantly have those small tiny film tears frequently through the movie. And we don't have a digital option either. ![]() And I'm not talking about IMAX guys, I'm talking about cinemark. ![]() |

Yeah... I was a little confused by Steveo's comments because my HDTV and Blu-ray movies look way better at home than at the theatre but I don't go to movies a lot so I thought I could be confused.

i know that, but if you read closely i said that the theaters film quality is in cinema 4k, and 2k, cameras.
bluray's standard film quality is about 1920x1080 pixels. cinema 4k is 4096x2048 pixels, nearly double that of blu-ray's. plus projectors dont display in the form of pixels as the image is put into light form, goes through a few filters and then a large lense and stretches itself out to a good quality. i dont know what kind of theaters, and hdtv's you use or have. but to me a theater film looks wayy better, especially imax, than the 52 inch tv where i live. |
