Lifelike animation heralds new era for computer games - Times Online
I'm not big on PC gaming but it just seems amazing to me on how well graphics really can be. For the 360 or not, I've never seen graphics that compare to what that girl looks like. |

The reason it looks so real is because of the wireframes. I don't think games will look that real for a while, there were a lot of wireframes just for her face, I would hate to see what it looked like for other things such as a shirt that has wrinkles and such in it.

Exacly what I thought.......idk if i am crazy here but can't they just put a mold over the actors face and analyze that facial structure.....wouldn't that me more detailed?

That would be detailed, but only for that expression. One of the things that is big in game engines now is facial expressions. To make a game more realistic, the character's facial expressions have to change also. For example, people say Oh, for multiple things. When they get an idea, or maybe because they saw something horrible happen. Just one expression, does not pass the "emotion" of what the character is "feeling". Take a look at games like HL2 series. You will see that the face of the characters change based on what they are doing. That is what more game designers are going for.
It use to be that just having the character's mouth move when they talked was good enough, but not now. That is also way a lot of old school characters, like Link, don't actually talk, because they wouldn't feel as real any more then they do in the mute state. |

That was cool but they definitely have some work to do on some of the expressions or the way the face moves. There were a few things that were really wierd looking... but impressive none the less.
