So I finally decided to move my 360 from my room and the bigger tv to my computer room and to a smaller tv. The upside of course, is that now I can connect to Xbox Live.

Ok so now I've tried to migrate my original account from my Xbox to my 360. But whenever I choose "Recover Gamertag from Xbox Live" it says I need to install an update. Ok, that's fine with me. Click on "Yes, update now" and after trying to update or sometimes not even doing it at all, I get a failure message. So I'm just wondering, what do I do? I don't remember it being this complicated with the original Xbox...

i would say make sure everything is properly connected. I don't think the update would just fail for any other reason

I ran a test and it shows that everything is connected. Believe me, I'm not new to the whole internet connection thing, it's just that I wasn't expecting it to say that my connection failed. Actually I think I might know it... Do you have to use the grey ethernet cable that came with the 360? Cause I lost that grey cable and I'm using an older one that I bought for my Xbox last year. I'm wondering if that has any effect on it.

I'm not sure what kind it is. The cable itself is clear so I can see the the wires and stuff inside. It came in a 2 pack that ahd the ethernet cable and a system link cable for Xbox. So I'm not sure if it's a problem with the cable. Or could it be because of all the traffic on Xbox Live?

Ya it's plugged in correctly. I know how to connect an ethernet cable. I have done it with my Xbox before. And I've gotten on Xbox.com and went to the support site but that didn't help because I couldn't find anything about failure to connect so I don't know. Oh well, I'm at school right now and when I get home I'll try it again.

If you buy it from Best Buy, someone there would probably know how to get everything to work
