My strange friend that just happens to be Canadian buys me a prepaid card in Canada and gives me the code so I could change my gamer tag. Unfortunately when I put the code in it said try again and this strange person verified that the code was correct. So, why isn't it working?

Most likely because it's a Canadian code and can only be used there and is different to American, i donno.

they might be country specific but not region specific, cause i've bought some on ebay by someone in another region and he sent the codes through email, and they worked...
