Hi
Just bought a xbox 360 and i'm trying to connect to live for the 1st time. I've been through the guides a few times which have almost helped but not quite. My PC has an ethernet port on the back so i followed the guide for connecting straight with no router. I use a USB ADSL modem. I set up a network connection using the wizard and followed the instructions but when i try to connect to XBOX Live i get Network Adapter:Wired but IP Address:Failed. Any help is appreciated. Cheers |

Thanks for the reply.
I've gone through the 4th post but it doesn't make sense to me. I gather that my Xbox and PC need to be using different IP Addresses, but do i need to be entering new IP adds, Subnet Masks etc. into my modem connection or where? Im seriously confused now can anybody put this stuff in laymans terms please. Thanks |

I just went through the process again.
When i go to start menu then run...command...ipconfig/all. For my Ethernet Adapter LAC, i can get an IP address, Subnet Mask, but no Default Gateway or DNS servers. The other option ive got is my PPP Adapter (Modem i guess). Which has all the IP Adds etc. Can anyone shed some light on this? Please.... |

my friend doesn't have a router, so he takes the modem off the computer and connects it from a cable outlet in the wall straight to his xbox, then switches them back for whatever he is using...just a thought, but it might screw up your modems settings to the computer everytime you disconnect it, not sure though.
