I am not able to hear one of my friends and he can't hear me. I heard this problem can be fixed by port forwarding the 360. How do I do this?

this might explain it:
Go to the System blade, select Network Settings and then Test Xbox Live Connection. You'll be able to see what sort of NAT your system is behind, and if it's set to Moderate or Strict then you will only be able to connect to certain other users. To fix this, set your NAT to Open by opening the following ports on your router: 88 (UDP), 3074 (UDP), and 3074 (TCP). |

If I open ports with Windows Firewall, will that work with the router? And how do I change NAT settings?

you would have to goto your router ips address aka 127.0.0.1 and there you will have to sign in if you havn't messed with it before you should have blank username and admin as the password.... if not then you may have to reset your password past there it is pretty straight forward.
