When got my Xbox360 it came with a $60 2-year warranty that I needed to fill out and send in within 10 days after buying it. What's the deal with that? Now its free 3-year warranty? I never sent that thing in.

Let's say my console crashes (it hasn't. thank god) What do I do to take advantage of the free 3 year warranty.

You have a 3 year warranty for the 3RROD. You have a 1 year warranty for any other problems (for something like a disc tray malfunction). To take advantage of these you just call Microsoft's special Xbox hotline #...which i can't seem to think of for some reason at the moment...but anyways they'll send you a box to send your 360 to them which they'll fix and send back to you.

Yeah I also just got a 360 and never sent in the 2 year extension on the warranty...i figure though that something will probably happen to my 360 before the first round of free warranties expire which at that point i'll have a perfectly fixed up 360 which hopefully would last for awhile...

idk, i'm just going to take very good care of mine and if the 3RROD should happen, i'll be covered for awhile.

I just screwed the warranty not knowing how many problems there are with the Xbox...

If something does happen to my 360 after the warranty period is over i'll just go crazy on them for not replacing my defective console sooner

Do you need the serial number and receipt or anything else? Also what's 3RROD?

serial # is on your console, so it'll always be there. If you look to the right of the power button on the front of the console there is a place to plug in controllers, i believe the serial # is in there. And i would keep the receipt just in case.

The 3RROD = 3 red rings of death. Where the console has the green ring, it'll turn red when there is a hardware failure. This happens to an estimated 30% of consoles so MS is covering it for free for 3 years from the purchase date of your console.
