Default Help TFG Connect to XBL!

So I can only play XBL with you guys if I figure out how to connect to it in my house

Here is the deal. Right now my Xbox 360 is in the basement of my house. There is cord long enough to hook it up from there to a broadband outlet, so I need to figure something else out.

What would you guys suggest as far as possibly doing wireless connection? Keep in mind I have a MacBook laptop in my room and we have a mac desktop on the middle floor. The 360 is in the basement.

If need be, i'll have to bring the 360 upstairs to play XBL, but if there is a way, i'd like to keep it in the basement and connect another way.

Alright. Would you be able to bring your MacBook down in the basement with your 360? Because you would be able to have it wireless then. All you have to do is get a backwards Ethernet cable, plug it in the back of your 360 then into your laptop, then go to your wireless connections settings and make it so that you can share a connection through your laptop. The thing is I'm not sure on how to do that on a Mac, maybe you do.

Is your router with your Mac ? it doesn't matter then as long as the routers connected to your modem or Mac it should get a connection, but im abit confused if you want Wireless you will need the Wireless Network Adapter, if you have it already i could walk you through setting up as best i can.

Lol you don't need a Wireless Network Adapter if you have a router. He just needs his laptop, unless it wants to buy a 100 dollar adapter. I saved money by doing it through my laptop.

No but you need a wireless router to get Wireless like me, but anyway are you planning on having non-wireless connection from your 360 to your laptop ? which has router.

The thing is do you have a wireless router for wireless internet?

If you don't have a router you'd have to run the cord up to your broadband outlet. You wouldn't be able to have internet while you play live, you would have to switch on and off.

Just use the long ethernet cord, and never close any doors that it is running through. Or drill holes in strategic places to run the cord through.

I'll just explain this again because I think i'm confusing people.

I don't have wireless internet in my house. My house has broadband outlets in a couple of rooms, but the 360 is too far away from any broadband outlet in the house to connect to. So I need to figure out the best way to connect to XBL with my situation.

Well, there's the same situation I have. Just buy more cords and connect them. That or you can bring your 360 up to your room or something.

It doesn't madder if its "wireless internet" all internet can be wired or wireless. The thing is if you want to access your internet threw wireless you need a router that has wireless capability. From there you need to install the software that came with your router to access the wireless hardware threw your router. Then you need a adapter for your 360 to connect to your router. Threw here you have to set up your IP address between each other so they aren't the same so they can talk to each other.

I think its just easer to just connect to your internet threw a cable. Its faster, easy less headache and you get on it faster.

All you need to do is buy 2-3 very long ethernet cables and hook it to the outlet. Thats what I'm doing. All that wireless stuff is a pain in the ass and you probably wouldn't get the best connection in the basement.

depending on how thick the floors are it might be hard to connect wirelessly, what im using is my moms laptop as a connection untill i get the wireless adapter. but laptops work really good, as long as you can hook up an ethernet cable to it, bridge the connection, and connect to a router.
