Alright so I've been getting black static-y dots on my screen while playing my 360 for a while now. Usually it doesn't happen right away, but right when I turned my console on and started playing Vegas 2 there were black dots all across the screen in the first 2 seconds. So I call MS and tell them I'm getting graphical imperfections and to send me a box for repairs. So the guy tells me to turn on my 360 and out of nowhere I get 1 flashing red light. WTF that's never even happened before.. and the number E 74 came up on my screen. The guy I was talking to said that its a problem with the hard drive slot/motherboard and that I might have to pay for repairs. WTF?!!!!

What the **** happened to the 3 year warranty on this console? I sware to god I'm not going to pay $100 for this ****ty ass console. It's not my fault the damn console broke on me so why would they even think I would be willing to pay for this. Again, I got 1 flashing light not 3. I don't know why but if they tell me that I have to pay for repairs I'll have them ship the console back and it's going right on Craigslist along with all my games. I'll then use that money to get a PS3. It's just outrageous that he told me I might have to pay for repairs.

i think i heard you complain about some problems and then someone on this forum said that the next thing is the graphics card.

anyways, that sucks. you should just get a new 360, i think the newer ones have lower failure rates.

Yeah i think you should just get a new one Sickness. The new ones are so much quieter rarely any are defective. Don't go wasting your money on something that you would regret buying with only 2 games. But yeah, since it's not the 3 RROD i think you might have to pay for repairs. I got 2 red rings meaning it overheated and if i sent it i would have to pay for repairs so I'm assuming you do. But seriously don't go on a PS3 fit saying there's nothing wrong with it. Go ahead and waste whatever you want on it, but you'll regret it.

The peeps at IGN told me to lie to them and say I'm getting 3 red lights. The lady said that if they get my console and they don't see 3 red lights that they will call me and most likely I will have to pay.

How can I get my 360 to have 3 lights? Should I turn the console on and start shaking it?

The 3 year bit is ONLY for 3 RROD. Sucks dude. Regardless of what happens I wouldn't get a PS3 for your main console. I've been playing with my new one and I'm not any more impressed by it now than I was over a year ago.

Some people told me to do the towel trick. Just leave the Xbox on and put 2 towels around it so it suffocates. I did it last night and it got hot as $hit lol. I hope this will give me the 3 red rings.

I did the towel trick this morning for a good 25 minutes. My xbox got so hot that it smelled like smoke. So i turn it off and turn it back on and it worked! No red lights.. I seriously laughed.

You should get one of those fans and burn out the back of it.
Then They'll have to replace the console for you!

I thought the Towel Trick only worked for 3 RROD. Anyway i don't think you can get the 3 RROD on purpose. It's something that just happens when your 360 is defective. Of course mine is yet i haven't gotten it (knock on wood).

dont eff your xbox up intentionally and dont open in and mess with anything inside just to get the 3 red lights. because it'll probably void your warranty and im sure microsoft has ways to figure out how it happened.

next time you get the red rings, do the towl trick, pack it up in a box with all the cables, and sell it to someone you'll never see again. then buy a new xbox.
