It seems like every room I join on any game, I have enough lag for like 5 people. I don't understand why. I get really good test results from SpeedTest.net and a few other websites. Could it be that my actual Xbox is causing me to lag?

Your upload speed is pretty low, it should be at least 1 or 2k for you to host games for everyone with no problems of lag. If you mean just generally joining i don't know but its definately not your Xbox.

There aren't any ISPs available in my area that offer a good upload speed.

You should try looking up on the internet on some speed help.
Are you hooked up directly to the modem or through a router?

Mines pretty good. Yeah dude, it's your upload speed. And to go with what Blinq is saying, you may need a better router if you're running it through that. Try hooking it up directly to the modem and test it again.

You don't need a ****ing 2 meg upload speed to play without lag. I have a Netgear Wireless router but my Xbox is wired. If I connect to my modem i have a strict nat for some reason. The maximum upload i can get with my plan is 512 kbps and my friend gets like 380 kbps and he never lags.

well if ur talking about gears of war lag then its not ur conection or ur xbox because for the past 1-2 months everybodys been lagging. i always tell people that they might have cut down the servers for gears because of gears 2

It runs off of host....
Host Advantage is supposed to make it look as if there's no lag...

Oh and Hades is right you don't need a 2 MG speed upload to not lag.

I almost always lag, doesn't matter who host is.

Well it could be Gears if Gears is having connection issues.
