Haze looks magnificent. The demo we saw is based in a jungle, and much like Crysis and Far Cry, the lush green environment is dense, detailed, and provides beautiful streams of light filtering though open patches of sky. Even in this early stage, the proof of concept demo shows smooth animation, quick movement, and an attention to detail in the character models and environments.

The story is a little vague right now, but unlike the first two TimeSplitters games -- which jumped from era to era in search of powerful crystals, you're part of a military regiment that drops into the jungle and instantly finds trouble. Free Radical is paying particular attention to the AI, which will work in groups, flank you and pay attention to your movements -- but it's also likely to be aggressive, running and strafing around you and proving to be extremely pesky with grenades, heavy group attacks and more.

The squad commands comprise simple basics such as cover, follow, attack and deploy, all deployable on the Xbox 360 (the console on which the game was demoed) via the D-pad. The same-side AI seemed competent, staying alive and killing off enemies without you having to worry about them much.

Free Radical is also looking to explore more than just the basic action that takes place in a war game. Creative Director David Doak addressed the fact that most games drop you into a war and then you simply fight until you drop or pass the level. In Haze, you'll explore moral issues such as the killing of innocents, destroying villages and more.

Slated for a 2007 release on PC, PS2, and Xbox 360, Haze is still quite early. The game is packed with gameplay elements in need of being fleshed out, distinguished and polished. But Free Radical isn't a first-person shooter noob. Just the opposite. Haze is the culmination of more than nine linear years of first-person shooter design, innovation and experience all wrapped into a brand-spanking new game. Haze is enabling this team to branch out from the more-or-less simple arcade shooters it has specialized in the past. Haze gives Free Radical the chance to work on story elements, develop a narrative, and work on a game that explores morale issues as well -- in addition to advanced AI, team dynamics and more. Finally, we can certainly cont on Free Radical to sculpt a fantastic looking game, as it's consistently proved its mettle with every system on which it's made games.(IGN)

(THIS GAME LOOKS AMAZING TO ME)

Doesn't look like it offers much of anything new, and the graphics look about the same as some other games coming out.
