I just affiliated with PlayAsia.com to try to get some money for prizes on XLE, and I'm seeing Gears of War going for $40. It's also region-free. What does this mean? That it's in Japanese? Are region-free games legal?

Dint take anything i see to be true, as i might be lying. :shifty:
A region free game is game that can be played on any version of console. Each 360 console has regional lockout. That means, only a north American game can be played on a north American 360. A region free game can be played on any of the consoles in the world. Games like call of duty cant be region free, as it contains Nazis, and games with Nazis, cant be played in Germany. So, on this game, it will say it is compatible with NTSC , Japanese, etc. NTSC-US is north America i believe PAL is Europe and parts of Africa and parts of Asia, and Australia SECAM is France, Russia, and parts of Asia/Africa NTSC-J is Japan and china possibly. These are perfectly legal i think, but you will have to pay for a lot of shipping. And when you buy it, it should say what language it is in and what version it is. You may get a Japanese version, but it might be in English. Which would be perfectly fine and would just differ a bit from our version And btw, i could be lying |

Thanks :D - if you're telling the truth.
Well, in that case, PlayAsia.com has a region-free English version of Gears of War for (price and shipping combined if it's shipping to the U.S.) $43. If you don't care about getting it a little later than some people, please do XLE a favor and buy it from our affiliate link! |

No, he's telling the truth... Partially.
Games containing the Swastica can not be sold in germany, either they ship it from outside the country or they take the swastica out. |

Sweet. Thanks.
Serisouly, though, these games are CHEAP, and XLE could use some money for prizes. If you don't mind waiting a bit for the game to get there, I strongly recommend looking into this site - the average price for a region-free Asian game in English, as far as I've seen, is $43 with shpipping taken into account. |

i know ThePerfectGun used to buy games from PlayAsia.com
anyways not all of their games are region free. You have to make sure it says "No region protection" and that if you go to a game page it has to have the Furthur Compatibility boxes checked. For instance: Just Cause would be compatible everywhere, as can be seen by the green checks: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-1gk8.html Need for Speed Carbon wouldn't though, as can be seen from the red circles: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-...n-70-1l24.html |

I don't get it...I can find NTSC-J games in English, and region-free games in Japanese, but no region-free games in English :'(.
EDIT: I found a copy of F.E.A.R., region-free and in English, for $39.90. |
