Default Shadowrun Goes GOLD!

Shadowrun Enters Final Lap
The multiplayer-only shooter has gone gold.
by Daemon Hatfield
May 9, 2007 - Today Microsoft announced its upcoming multiplayer-only first-person shooter Shadowrun has gone gold. Shadowrun will be the first game that allows Xbox 360 and PC owners to play against each other over Microsoft's Live Anywhere service.

Developed by FASA Studio (MechAssault) and the lead designer of the original Halo, Shadowrun is based on the classic pen and paper role-playing game of the same name. The world of Shadowrun blends magic and futuristic technology in a war between global corporations and an ancient order.

The game has been the subject of some controversy for liberties it takes with the Shadowrun license, and for the choice to make it multiplayer-only with no split-screen play. Gamers will finally get a chance to see how the title panned out on May 29.

I think ShadowRun will do well, especially from the fact that there aren't really many other new options for XBL atm.

I've never heard of this "Pen and Paper" Game.
But I'll probably rent it to check it out.

I think it's a pretty gutsy move to make a game that is ONLY multiplayer but doesn't offer any split screen. Offering only multiplayer is rough but if you're not even going to let two people play on the same TV... WOW. I think this game will do just fine in the pre H3 weeks but... man... the balls...

Well, the majority of 360 owners have Xbox Live, and PC owners have the internet. I think the days of split screen are going to fade away and we will pretty much see multiplayer online as the only multiplayer option.

Playing on-line is one thing but not being able to play on-line with a friend on the same couch? That's lame.
