Default Widescreen Patch Coming for BioShock
...but I guess just for the PC at the moment...

Because everything looks better in widescreen. At this point, players playing BioShock in widescreen are actually getting less picture. Instead of expanding the field-of-view to see more on the sides, the image is simply cut on top and bottom and zoomed in.

A new patch is being developed to fix this problem on PCs, so that gamers will see more and not less. According to lead programmer Chris Kline on the 2K Forum site, “The game will render in full 16:9 aspect ratio, with no letterboxing unless your resolution is not true 16:9…. You will see more in widescreen. We use a different projection matrix; there is no squashing or stretching of the image involved.”

Apparently a similar patch is under investigation for the Xbox 360 as well.

This game definitely needs to be played in true widescreen. HOLY CRAP is this game awesome!

Stop saying that!! wahhhh i want to play it! stupid Blockbuster wont get it til god knows when, so im planing on buying it, pass it in about a week and then return it for my money back LOL, my last resort if i dont find it in Blockbuster soon.

yeah I also just went to Blockbuster and they didn't have it

In fact, they barely have any video games anymore

That is why I don't go to Blockbuster anymore...I go to Hollywood Video. . Gamecrazy is awesome.

But yeah, I have no complaints right now as I am playing on a standard TV as I am not home or have been for 2 weeks now. I will enjoy widescreen on my second play-through.
