As Sony continues to evolve the PS3's user interface, is Microsoft resting on its laurels? After it nixed the expected spring Dashboard update, we began to suspect something was up. The gang at The Fanboys postulate that a refresh of the Dashboard could well be in the cards, and have produced a very compelling deconstruction / reconstruction of their own.

They reckon that only about 12% of the Dashboard's current screen real estate is devoted to actual user-specific content. Their speculative "dream" design addresses that, along with the still not-quite-there content location features. It's a really great read ... and hopefully something MS takes a look at.

Note this is just a theory but the design to me seems something xbox should look at but obviously clean the look

the mock up or the current one....i like the ps3's design except it seems like stuff is hard to find

I definitely prefer what it is like now, then what it will be if they release that. That seems to be unbelievably cluttered and unorganized. That is a horrible idea whoever came up with that.

I don't think it looks bad. The one we have now is boring as hell. It doesn't really seem unorganized, move up and down and what you need is on the right of it. Seems fine to me. The could fix it up to make it look better, the gamercard look very plain. Other then that i think it looks cool.

Looks kind of like what xbox live would look like if it was on a PC.

its actually really easy to find stuff in the ps3. its easy to find any file you want in both systems unless you have thousands and thousands of files that are completely unorganized. i dont see a need for a search bar for the xbox 360. and if theres going to be a search bar then there should be an online option to search on google, or live.

it seems too cluttered, and just doesnt seem right, im sure microsoft would make something of their own. and when microsoft says there will be no more major dashboard revamps, they mean it. id expect to see something like this in the next xbox.

this dashboard looks absolutly terrible, cluttered, and hard to access.

not only that the analyzation of the current dashboard is off.

and something this graphically cluttered could eat away at the systems resources and impact performance of games chats, messaging, etc. even the current xbox 360 is kinda slow when bringing up the dashboard and what not.
