It doesn't look like everyone should be jumping for joy about a revised Xbox 360 d-pad, yet. According to Microsoft the rumored directional pad revision is currently only slated as "a limited edition promotional item that is only available in Europe, Asia and Latin America while supplies last." Set for release on October 24, Eurogamer confirmed the "optimized" d-pad will be released in a bundle with Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. Also, the controller will be sickly green, as seen in the image above. While plans could change the bundle seems to be the only option for now. No word on a North American bundle, so for now sports fans should hope Pro Evo 09 is region-free.

the 360 controller and gamecube controller are the best controllers ive ever used. i dont see a point for improving on the dpad, its fine.

The d-pad is terrible, take it fomr a fighting gamer where everything resolves around the d-pad, it is just to loose, not presice...

The duke controller for the xbox was a great controller

The D-Pad is only bad because it is a "digital" d-pad. It works more like the analog sticks then a normal D-Pad. Instead of having a button for each of the directions, the 360 d-pad uses a "rocker" system.

I don't get this at all. They improved the D-Pad. They made the controller better. Why make this limited? Why make it only slime green? Why not release it in America where the 360 is super-popular?

^ I guess it would fit well for Christmas with the Red controller, but its still pretty stupid.
