Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Comparison
By JraceR There have been so much talk over which system is better, so I have decided to give y'all the most in depth comparison by a member on this site and state what I feel should be said. Yes, I have both an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. I will compare the 60 GB PS3 and the 20GB X360, since these are the two consoles that are owned by more people. Please, don't spam-flame this area, I just want people to actually look at this information by someone who has been on the site for a while and has played both systems at your home and not somewhere else. I will rate as I go and give a bottom score when I am done. I will not talk about the stuff that y'all know, like the two console's specs and what comes in it, because if you are reading this, then you will have probably already somewhat read about the different comparisons, at least stat-wise...and I won't put a lot of information in this first post. Please comment on what you think is better, or if you have any questions, ask, and I will give you my imput, as I know both consoles. So, here I go.... 1st 5-month comparison Microsoft's Xbox 360 ![]() The Xbox 360 exceeds the limit of Last Generation's console in every way in its first year out. I am not talking about online yet, but offline, you have what you need. You have a great single player game in the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. This is a must buy and is probably the best experience out there by yourself. If you don't have Xbox Live, then what you are allowed to do is still pretty good, if you compare it to the original Xbox or the PS2. There is much more you can do when you aren't playing a game...seeing as how last generation was almost strictly put disc in and play. You all know what you can do on the different blades, so I don't need to talk about that...but now to really talk about Xbox Live. Xbox Live is the main reason people play the Xbox 360. There is so much you can do, and once you experience online gameplay with Xbox Live, you don't want to go back. The big game that was released in the first 5 months for Xbox Live, whether you like it or not, was Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. There was so much you could do in this game, a fairly challenging single-player with engaging multiplayer. This game is truly the first next-generation game to be released, as it had the "whole package" and was the 360s number one shooter at the time. Downloadable content had started and took off pretty good. There were a decent amount of games at this time, but nothing Halo-esque as Halo 2 was still the most popular Xbox Live game. Achievements are the new way to game, this is probably the only deciding factor on why I would buy a game for the 360 instead of the PS3. Score: Offline: Best game - Elder Scrolls: Oblivion A+ Overall Offline Score -> B Online: Best game - Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter A- Overall Online Score -> A+ Bottom Line -----> A- Sony's PlayStation 3 ![]() The PS3 has been criticized so much after it's high expectations. Many features were taken out so it wouldn't be too expensive, yet people still aren't pleased with the price. For this, all I can say is that Sony is still losing money and if you were Sony, what would you do? Well, after all the criticism, the PS3 isn't all that bad. Blu-Ray already has a hand over HD-DVD, but this is more about games, so I will slow my talk of that. Offline, PS3 owners have just as much option as the Xbox 360, even if it isn't organized by blades. The interface is like the PSP's which can be either good or bad. You can play Oblivion on this console also, so you get good single player all around, but nothing is different if you have already played the 360 version. For those who want to play online, you get it free on the PS3, and sadly, since it is free, it isn't nearly as good as Xbox Live, but it is playable. I played Resistance online with 32 people and experienced No Lag while I experience lag on Xbox Live with just 8 people. Speaking of Resistance, it is by far the best online game out there as you can play with so many people and just flat out do so much. Resistance is a must own for any PS3 owner. To compete with Microsoft's achievement system, Sony has announced Home for PS3 owners that enable them to create their own character, live in thier own house, and converse with other people that have the same stuff, which is to come out around a year after the PS3's release. Score: Offline: Best game - Elder Scrolls: Oblivion A+ Overall Offline Score -> B Online: Best game - Resistance: Fall of Man A+ Overall Online Score -> B Bottom Line -----> B+ Microsoft's Xbox 360 Almost every game that came out for the 360 was put out on the Playstation 2 and Xbox. Speaking as for Next-Gen Titles, most of these games weren't released for the Playstation 3, but for those that were 360-exclusive, these were the ones that stuck out:
Sony's Playstation 3 Sony was released with just a couple of games that were on most other consoles, but they, too, had some exclusives out there. If Sony could hold on to what exclusives they have left, they may be a force to reckon with, but after losing title exclusitivities like Assassin's Creed and GTA IV, they are losing ground. Here are some of the titles Sony can smile over:
((Will be continued, but I just don't feel like typing right now, go ahead and talk, but I am not done comparing yet, you just wait until I am finally done :P This is just something to start conversation and it will be updated, so don't think what you see above is that that will be here. Just be patient as I continue all my comparison over the next few weeks, or have the time to get around to it.))

I'd take it and sell it on Ebay. For really cheap. Like 300 dollars. Just to screw Sony.

I hardly ever play my PS3. Being the last next-gen console to arrive it needed to "bring it"... and it didn't. I was so impressed by the 360 when I started playing it... PS3 not so much. The chips were stacked high for the PS3 and it hasn't shown me enough yet. That's my comparison. :P

I've played it at J's house, it's fun and all. But no mic for me is like dieing with a stake in the heart. Maybe if it had more free stuff with it, it would be great.
Without all the extra free things it's just plain. xP But the overall mass of people who could play in a match was a nice change.
